Did you participate in last year's TRI training at FHR?Did you finish the Desert Grande Triathlon as a result?
Did the experience inspire, encourage or otherwise compel you to even greater accomplishments?
It's time to blow your horn and tell us all about it!!

When 500M of swimming, followed by 17K of biking and 5K of running seems "doable" an entire world of athletic possibilities opens up. That's why many of last year's FHR TRYathletes have moved on to even more difficult challenges - and met them with aplomb!
Now its time to share those stories - very publicly - to get the kudos you deserve and inspire other (maybe tentative) first timers.
Leave a comment!!! Tell us all about it!!!
Here's a pic of last year's FHR contingent!!
What a crew!

Well, since I am still stunned at what I've been able to do since doing the first triathlon in Casa Grande I will be happy to open this one up. Since November 2006 when we did the Casa Grande Tri, I have done four additional sprint triathlons for a total of five combined with two half marathons, a 5K run, and Pat's Run which is 4.2 miles. My goal is to do at least one event a month (although I'm taking August off). Here is a link to all of my results.

That is super !!!!!
I HIGHLY RECCOMEND PARTICIPATING IN THIS YEAR'S TRY PROGRAM!!!
That said...last year I reluctantly signed up and took to the pool for the first time since High School! The program they gave us to follow to work up our endurance in the pool was amazing. I went from having to rest after 25m to being able to do the 400m with no worries. I completed the tri in Casa Grande last November and went on to do 4 more tri's since then. The last tri I did was in May, the swim was 750m in TEMPE TOWN LAKE!! What an experience! Thanks Foothills for opening a world to me that I never would have thought I'd be part of:)
I have always wanted to do a sprint triathlon, but needed something to get me to the initial stage to start training.I couldn't even run 1/4 mile without stopping. So when FHR offered the training session, that was the sign for me to do it. It was great to train with a group, and most were first timers so we were all in the same boat. Great to have the comradery, talking about our training progresses & set-backs with each other. The trainers were a weatlh of information since they have done triathlons at all levels. The bike/run bricks we did, really helped and brought a realistic feel on what to expect for the upcoming race.
It was so much fun,and felt so good to accomplish something I had only thought about.I not only felt good physically, but mentally that I had done a triathlon! It was also great to have my daughter Kelly, my husband Paul and I all do it together for our first times.
I think I have done a total of 3 sprints. The last one I did was my most challenging. It was my first open water swim, and it was an ocean swim.July 29,2007 Solano Beach, CA. Very humbling...but I finished! I think I'll stick to pools.
I love the cross training of triathlon training, working my upper and lower body.I don't anticpate doing more than a sprint, I do not like running, but I would like to continue to do at least a couple a year (Unlike my friend Margene. She wears me out)It is a great workout, not too much time committed and signing up for races keeps me motivated to continue my workouts.
I have also created a monster. My husband Paul who has been a couch potato for many years, signed up, unintentionally, last year for the training session for his first triathlon. He is now planning on doing the Soma 1/2 ironman in October and more. But I'll let him tell his story........
